This Map Making workshop will map the words and images around us in the exhibition that we do not fully understand yet. As we collect them in the gallery space, we begin to think deeper about the meaning of the words and our misinterpretations of language, and where this leads our imagination. We will collect these words and images from the gallery space and take them back to Belgin with us, where we will look at the material together, mapping the words on a large piece of paper on the floor and projecting the images on the large screen, for everyone to see as we discuss our missunderstandings and figure out their possible meanings together.
Map Making within Bergen Assembly is a mediation workshop for families and individuals, bringing together people of all ages. Within the workshops, participants are invited to make maps in different forms, such as maps of conversation, hand-drawn maps or mapping traces of our footsteps, all of which are made in response to and with specific references to the exhibition. The workshops take place every Sunday afternoon and are designed with an intergenerational methodology, open to all regardless of experience and skills.
